Every Adaptog research material is supplied strictly for laboratory research. Here is what that means for buyers.
Every research material sold by Adaptog is labelled for research use only, often shortened to RUO. This article explains what that means, why Adaptog takes it seriously, and what it means for anyone buying from Adaptog.
What "research use only" means
All products sold by Adaptog Pharmaceuticals PLC and its branches are supplied strictly for scientific laboratory research and analytical purposes only, unless explicitly stated otherwise. They are not intended for human or animal consumption, nor for use in foods, drugs, medical devices or cosmetics.
No dosage or usage guidance
Adaptog does not provide dosage, administration or usage guidance for peptides or any other material, and nothing on the Adaptog website should be read as such. This applies to every Adaptog branch that supplies research materials, including Adaptog Research & Life Sciences and VetiGen.
Who can buy from Adaptog
You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase products from the Adaptog website. Adaptog customers are typically research facilities, laboratories, universities, quality control teams and product developers. Organisations can apply for a professional account for verified pricing and purchase orders.
Buyer responsibilities
By purchasing from Adaptog, buyers accept responsibility for handling materials appropriately: storing them as the label and Safety Data Sheet state, following laboratory safety procedures, and using them only for lawful research. The full terms are in the Adaptog disclaimer and terms of sale.
Why research use only matters
Clear research-use terms are part of what separates a documented supply chain from an unregulated one. Alongside independent testing, batch traceability and published reports, they make it clear exactly what a material is and what it is for.
Research grade and medicinal products are different things
A medicine reaches patients only after it has been through clinical trials and regulatory approval, and it is made under the manufacturing rules that apply to medicines. A research reference material has a different job: it is a characterised material for use in the laboratory, supplied with documentation so researchers know exactly what they are working with. The two are not interchangeable, and a research material should never be treated as a medicine.
Why Adaptog does not give dosage guidance
Dosage guidance is for medicines, given by qualified professionals with knowledge of the person being treated. Because Adaptog research materials are not medicines, giving dosage or usage advice would be inappropriate, and it would blur the line that research-use-only terms exist to draw. If you are looking for medical advice, speak to a qualified healthcare professional.
How laboratories handle research materials well
- Record each material on receipt, with its lot code and Certificate of Analysis.
- Store it as the label and Safety Data Sheet state.
- Handle it under your laboratory's safety procedures and risk assessments.
- Reference the lot code in your experiment records.
- Dispose of unused material through your facility's approved waste routes.
What about Adaptog Pharmacy?
Adaptog Pharmacy is a separate branch: a registered online pharmacy and doctor service with its own website at adaptogpharmacy.com. Research materials from this website are not medicines. See Adaptog Pharmacy for how the two are kept apart.
